FAQs

What should I get in preparation for my new puppy?

A bucket load of patience and an ample amount of time. : ) Seriously, please do not think about bringing a new puppy into your home if you do not have the time to properly set aside and spend with it, teaching it how to become an awesome dog. Your puppy is ready to learn the day you bring it home. Every interaction you have with your new pup from the time you meet it, will either be teaching it how to do something correctly or incorrectly. Check out our Puppy Prep List for more information

Can we chat on the phone so I can find out more information?

Phone time is nearly impossible for me. Raising puppies right takes a lot of time. There are times where I get up to twenty inquiries in a day with most people requesting a call back. I am unable to spend that much time returning phone calls. My time is spent outside most of the day; managing my dogs, caring for pups, going to the groomers, doing my own grooming, heading to vet appointments, walking dogs, socializing the pups, handling administrative tasks and then, of course, meeting in person my perspective clients for their puppy previews and puppy pick ups. EMAIL will always be the best form of communication. Click HERE to send me a message. I try and be very responsive to my emails and most are answered within 24 hours.

Do you have a Health Guarantee?

Yes, and we stand behind our dogs here at Loveable Labradoodles. Our health guarantee is part of our contract and must be read in full before the contract is signed. Please take time now to read this. You can read or download a copy HERE.

Are these dogs Hypoallergenic?

There is not a dog on Earth that should be labeled Hypoallergenic. The early generation Labradoodles will shed and trigger allergies. The multigenerational Labradoodle is considered allergy friendly and most people with low to moderate allergies are not triggered. Many people with severe allergies are still unable to tolerate a Labradoodle and many times it is because of the saliva or even the allergens that are brought in from the outside such as pollens, grasses or other animals the dog has been in contact with. If you are a severe allergy sufferer or even a moderate one, I would make it point to spend ample time around a Labradoodle before purchasing one. Ask a friend or family member with a Labradoodle if you could spend a few hours interacting and loving on their dog. Please know that most breeders do not have the ability to provide this time for you.

Can you guarantee size when it comes to standard , medium, mini or even micro mini?

No, We can give a pretty close guesstimation but often times there are larger dogs in the pedigree behind the small dogs being bred and once in a while those genes re-emerge. There are also times when we will breed a smaller dog to a larger dog and there will be a variety of sizes in the litter.

When are the pups required to be spayed or neutered?

As per my purchase contract you are required to sign, the pup will be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age.

Should I crate train my puppy?

Absolutely yes! Check out our TRAINING page for more information.

Can my puppy stay in a crate during the day while I am at work?

Absolutely NOT. The is not the right time for a pup in your life if you have to work all day and no one is at home to care for the pup. If the pup has been in a crate all night and is only out for a small amount of time before it is put back in for another 8-10 hours until you return home in the evening…this to me borders on abuse. You will hamper the growing process of the pup and it will not have time to learn good habits or to be socialized properly in the formative months of its life. Puppies need outside playtime on a daily basis and interaction with people and other dogs in order to develop both physically and emotionally.

What shouldn’t I get for my puppy?

There are so many unnecessary items that are being sold for pups that honestly bring more harm than good. Go natural...would be my motto when shopping for food or special treats for your pup. We have a store with much of what we recommend and if there is something you want to get for your pup but it is not on our store page there is probably a reason. There are too many treats and toys that are made with anything but natural ingredients, stay away from them. Greenies are one of them. PLEASE do not buy these for you puppy or dog. They have many unhealthy side effects Also, stay away from all flea and tick products while your pups is young . You will hear me explain why when you are here. As far as leashes go, get a simple slip lead. We provide one with our going home bag that will last for months.. Please do not buy a harness for your puppy/dog or a retractable leash. Your puppy does not even need any kind of collar at this age. Stay away from any type of apparatus that goes around the nose or chest being sold to be able to walk your dog correctly. These dogs are so so so easy to train and teaching a dog to walk loose on a slip lead is very simple.. We go over it in our puppy going home class on pick up day. I would also not get fancy cushions for your crate…buy a nice thick washable pad instead. Do not use Potty pads your house. Click HERE for a puppy Prep List and remember, if you buy a puppy from us we have an informative presentation on take home day.

After a litter is born when do we get to meet the litter and pick out our puppy?

An announcement will be sent to you once a litter is born. At that time, a Choosing Date will be set for you to put on your calendar when the pups are six to seven weeks old. This is when you will come to choose the pup from the litter that you have placed a deposit on. You will choose your pup in the order your name has been placed on the litter list. Once the litter has been born and you have been notified, you will be required to place a deposit to hold your name in place on the list. This must be done within the first three days of being notified and if the deposit is not recieved your name will be removed from the list. Everyone on the list will be here on the same day for choosing but at different times. You each will have an hour to interact with the litter and choose your puppy. Once you have chosen your puppy from the litter your payment in full will be due on this day. The pups will not be ready to take home on this day, they will leave between 8-9 weeks of age.

We are not available to pick the puppy up on the scheduled day can you please hold it for us?

Most times no, once in a while if it is the max of just one or two days then maybe. The puppy will never be held back for over a few days and If the timing does not work out then I would choose another litter. Much is dependent on what our schedule is here.

Do you ship your pups by air across the country?

No, I am sorry we do not. We prefer you to pick up the puppy here, or we can potentially arrange to meet you at our small local airport. Contact us if you need to make alternate arrangements.

Do you deliver your pups to out of the area buyers?

I work with a couple of independent students, friends and family members who have done deliveries in the past. To Northern or Southern CA it is usually close to an 8-10 hour turn around day and with the price of gas and their time they charge between $400-$500 for deliveries depending on distance.
